• WHAT IS THE RED RIBBON BED RACE?
Beds with canopies, some with hammocks, many built for speed, with a few shaped like animals blaze a trail down Duval Street in the annual Red Ribbon Bed Race! Local bars, restaurants, hotels, businesses and organizations race for their chance to be the most outrageous, most colorful and oh yeah - the fastest!
It's most fun you can ever have in bed...with your clothes on! This slumber-mobile contest is the oldest event of the Annual Conch Republic Indepence Celebraion in Key West, Florida and is arguably the oldest bed race in the state of Florida. Beds first ran wild on the streets of Key West in 1983! CLICK HERE to read about the entire celebration
• WHAT ARE WE RACING FOR?
There are those who are in it for the speed, and those who want to look pretty in a parade, but more importantly the Red Ribbon Bed Race is a fund-raiser for AIDS Help Inc. of Key West. In fact, the Red Ribbon Bed Race was the 1st official fundraiser for AIDS Help Inc.
• WHO MAKES IT ALL HAPPEN?
The folks at Fairvilla Megastore (who know how to really have fun under the sheets) became the title sponsor and organizer of the Red Ribbon Bed Race in 2004. Fairvilla Megastore has retail locations in Orlando, Cape Canaveral & Key West Florida and also online at www.fairvilla.com |
